Napier’s Florida staff begins to take shape with Tony, Atka mackerel

Gainesville, Florida-Staff of Billy Napier, Florida’s new coach, is starting to take shape.

Napier appointed Patrick Tony as the team’s co-defense coordinator and safety coach on Monday, and Mark Hokke as the team’s Associate Head Coach and Strength and Conditioning Director.

Tony and Hokke were Napier’s first-and perhaps most obvious-adopted. They have spent the last four years with Napier at the Louisiana Lafayette. There, Laigin Cajun was 40-12 years old and won the title of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference.

Napier has negotiated a $ 7.5 million salary pool to hire 10 full-time assistants. He is expected to break up with most or all of the former Florida coach Dan Maren’s staff preparing the team to play the UCF at Tampa’s Gasparilla Bowl on December 23.

Tony has been ULL’s defensive coordinator for the past two seasons. He also coached safety and outside linebackers during his four-year tenure there. Ragin’Cajuns ranked 9th in the nation in 2021 scoring defense (18.3).

Hokke has worked at Alabama, Georgia, Texas A & M and has extensive experience at the Southeastern Conference. He began his coaching career in Alabama in 2009 and spent six seasons on Nick Saban’s staff. He was part of three national championships (2009, 2012, 2013) and trained dozens of players who followed to sign the NFL contract.

Atka mackerel also spent time in Georgia (2015), Florida (2016) and Texas A & M (2017).
