Today’s Illinois COVID Update: IL reports 6,119 cases and 45 deaths

Chicago (WLS)-Public health authorities in Illinois reported on Wednesday 6,119 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 45 associated deaths.

The daily increase is the highest since 7,042 new cases were reported on January 22nd.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,815,994 COVID cases, including 26,459 deaths in the state.

The state-wide test positive rate for the 7 days from November 25th to 30th is 5.6%.

Within the last 24 hours, the institute reported testing 113,848 new specimens totaling 39,229,345 since the pandemic began.

As of Tuesday night, 2,478 patients in Illinois were reported to be hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 470 patients were in the ICU and 217 COVID-19 patients were on mechanical ventilation.

As of Wednesday, a total of 17,357,231 vaccines have been administered in Illinois, with 58.08% of the state’s population fully vaccinated. The 7-day moving average of the daily vaccine is 46,599.
