Rome (AP) — Designer Giorgio Armani announced on Tuesday that it will cancel the men’s fashion show in Milan and the preve haute couture show in Paris this month due to the surge in coronavirus cases in Europe.
With this decision, Armani will be the first major designer to withdraw from the men’s preview of Milan in the fall / winter 2022-23, scheduled for January 14-18. In a statement, the Fashion House said the decision was “made with great regret and careful remorse in the light of the worsening epidemiological situation.”
“As the designers have expressed on many occasions, the show is an important and irreplaceable opportunity, but the health and safety of both employees and the general public must be re-prioritized,” said Armani’s statement. ..
Last month, the Milan Fashion Council announced that 22 brands from Armani to Zegna will be hosting live runway shows and only nine brands will choose digital presentations. This followed the success of the women’s wear show in September and featured 40 live runway previews, including mask requirements and limited invitees.
The British Fashion Council states that the men’s wear show in January will not be promoted due to COVID and will be integrated with the women’s wear calendar in February.
