With the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans reassessed their living arrangements, work conditions, travel styles, and how they spend their free time. It also affects how we manage ourselves at home in the face of COVID-19 infections and exposures to protect the safety of others.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people infected with COVID-19 self-isolate at home, stay in one particular “hospital room”, and use a different bathroom if possible. However, many American homes do not have enough rooms and facilities to effectively quarantine. At least 11.5 million households, or 13.1% of multi-person households, cannot be effectively quarantined because they do not have enough bedrooms, full kitchens, or complete plumbing in their homes, according to US Census Bureau data. ..
CDC Data is showing Minorities have an increased risk of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and death when compared to non-Hispanic Caucasians. This is due to a number of factors, including increased prevalence of certain underlying health conditions among minorities, unequal access to health care, and increased occupational exposure to the virus. Native Americans or Alaska Natives are at particularly high risk of both COVID-19 infection and adverse consequences. Compared to non-Hispanic Caucasians, they are 1.6 times more likely to be infected with COVID-19, 3.3 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 2.2 times more likely to die. Other minorities, especially Hispanics and blacks, also have a much higher risk of infection, hospitalization, and death.
