State-wide highway shooting dashboard launched by ISP | Top Story

Springfield, Illinois (Wand)-Illinois police have launched a dashboard to track highway shootings across Illinois.

The new state-wide Highway Shooting (SES) dashboard contains current and historical data on reported highway shooting incidents. According to Troopers, the tool was created to provide not only data, but also highway shooting conditions reported in the state.

One of the main goals of the dashboard is to make the latest reported highway shooting details “timely and transparent,” state police added. There are specific data related to each highway shooting reported throughout Illinois.

Visit the dashboard to see the number of highway shots reported from 2019 to 2022. The current year-to-date reported number of shots is compared to the number of reported highway shots from the previous year. In addition, the dashboard shows information about the location, date and time, the specific Illinois highway system, and whether an injury or death was reported.

“We will provide this information to the general public, community stakeholders, road safety partners, other first responders, and law enforcement partners to ensure the public safety of our highway systems. We want to ensure that we are committed to our mission. ” ISP director Brendan F. Kelly. “Knowing when and where these violent crimes are being committed provides us with another tool for combating these violent and meaningless crimes.”

To find the dashboard Illinois Police Home Page Select the “Quick Link” labeled “Mitigation of Violence”.
