Indiana man arrested for theft of a luxury watch in Chicago

Chicago-A 38-year-old man in northwestern Indiana was arrested for stealing five watches worth about $ 1 million from a luxury car dealership in Chicago’s Gold Coast district.

Carlos Valliant of Hammond, Indiana is facing charges of theft and robbery, Chicago Police Department police officer David Brown said Friday.

The watch was taken on December 11th by two men after the jewelry display case was broken. Police were still looking for a second suspect.

Theft has been one of the national trends in smash and grab crime in luxury retail stores over the past few months. A group of thieves break windows, break display cases, and escape before police arrive.
