Lucas Williamson continues to be a strong season for Loyola, scoring a little more points in his senior season to compete for the Missouri Valley Conference championship.
Another chapter was added at the Gentile Arena on Wednesday night when Chicago’s indigenous people enjoyed a career night with their rival, Illinois.
Williamson scored 27 points. This was the most in five seasons of his career, scoring six three points with a 78-64 victory that improved Loyola to 8-2 at the Missouri Valley Conference. It keeps them in a relationship with Drake in the first place as they prepare to face Missouri on Sunday in Springfield, Missouri.
This performance is part of a strong season as the prominent Williamson of former Whitney Young High School plays as a graduate student. He averages 13 points per game, more than 4 points higher than the previous highest average, shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 42.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
Like his entire career at Loyola, Williamson’s defense remains strong, with an average of 1.2 steals per contest. His play on both sides of the floor won the spot on the 10 watchlists of the Division I Basketball’s Best Small Forward Julius Erving Awards.
