Sogati’s, NY (WTEN) – A girl who disappeared in 2019 was found under the stairs in her New York residence.

Paisley Schultis was four years old when he was reported missing by Spencer, NY on July 13, 2019.

Investigators believed that the girl had been kidnapped by her non-custodial parents, Kimberly Cooper and Kirk Schultis Jr.

Police obtained a house search warrant after receiving information that the child was detained in a hidden location at 35 Fawn Road, Sorgathies, New York.

At 8:06 pm on February 14, Saugerties and New York State Police investigators entered the house and searched. Homeowners, who were not immediately identified, denied having met the girl since she disappeared in 2019, police said.

In just over an hour of their search, police found the child in a small temporary room under a closed staircase.

Detective Eric Thiele noticed that the wooden staircase was “strange and something was wrong.”

He used a flashlight to shine light through the gaps between the stairs and saw what he thought was a blanket.

“When I examined the stairs, the structure seemed to be solid, but the detective said. [halligan] It’s a tool for removing some wooden stairs, when the detective sees a pair of small feet, “says Release.

Police said they found both the girl and Cooper (accused of abducting a child) hiding in a dark room when they took off the springboard.

“The space was small, cold and wet,” said the release.

The girl was taken to the headquarters of the Sogati’s Police Station, where she was seen by rescuers. She was later released in good health by her legal guardian and reunited with her sister.

Cooper, 33, has been charged with interfering with detention for the second time and endangering the welfare of her child for the second time. She was also sought a warrant from the Ulster County Family Court. She was taken to Ulster County Jail.

Schultis Jr., 32, has been charged with one detention intervention and one endangering the welfare of a child.

Kirk Shultis Sr, 57-year-old father of Shultis, has also been charged. He is faced with a single custodial sentence interference and a crime endangering the welfare of his child.

Both Shultis Jr. and Sr. were accused and released on their own belief. A protection order has been issued to all three suspects to move away.

Police had previously visited the house, and both Shultis Jr. and Sr. allowed authorities to “restrict access” to look for the girl. For release.

Investigations are ongoing and additional arrests are still pending.
