Warsaw, Poland (AP) —Poland’s finance minister has resigned because of the “shortcomings” of the new tax system, which has led to lower net wages for many experts, Poland’s main ruling party said Monday.
According to Anita Zellwinska, Finance Minister Tadeus Kocinski was responsible for the criticized tax system and his resignation was accepted by the party leader. A spokeswoman for the Law and Justice Party. She spoke hours after a private debate by leaders, including leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Prime Minister Mateush Morawicki.
Morawicki will also serve as Finance Minister until a replacement is found.

Support for the ruling party has fallen to its lowest level in recent years due to unpopular taxation, soaring energy and staple products, and the exposure of Pegasus spyware surveillance to government critics.
The new Polish order tax system will come into effect on January 1st and aims to increase the net profits of low-income or middle-income people. The government advocated it by saying that it would benefit almost 80% of Poles.

Last week, Kachinsky admitted that those implementing the new tax system “did not have full control over it.”
