Washington DC (WJW) — Thousands of Cincinnati-style Chilean cans have been recalled after the customer opened the cans and found something other than Chile inside.
The USDA Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Wednesday that a can of Skyline Chili, sold as “Famous for Cincinnati,” was recalled for an allergen that was not declared a brand error.
According to FSIS, cans were sold at retail stores nationwide. Approximately £ 2,205 of the product will be affected by the recall.
Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana issued a recall after some consumers reported that the cans of chili contained chicken soup cream instead.
This also means that the can may contain allergens such as milk, wheat and soybeans. None of these are listed on the label.
According to Morgan Foods, the recall will affect 10.5 ounce cans of Skyline Chili Original Chile with lot code “L2121” and product code “CHC8TUPY” on the underside.Office Number — “EST. 680 6” —also displayed inside the USDA inspection mark
The recalled product will be manufactured on December 21, 2021 and has a “best-by date” of December 21, 2023.
FSIS states that recalled products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
