18 Illinois Schools Named the 2021 National Blue Ribbon School

Palatine, Illinois-18 Schools in Illinois are recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools.

Schools earn this special honor based on a program that bridges the gap in academic performance or achievement.

US Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona made a presentation on Tuesday at this year’s award-winning Palatine Sandling Middle School. Governor JB Pritzker participated in the celebration.

Cardona talked about the importance of returning to face-to-face learning and the need to make up for the learning lost during the pandemic.

For over a year, schools in Illinois and throughout the country have had to adapt to a pandemic life.

The schools in Illinois, named National Blue Ribbon Schools, are:

  • Centralia-Raccoon Integrated School District 1, Raccoon Integrated School District 1.
  • Chicago-Disney II Magnet High School, Chicago City School District 299.
  • Chicago-Prosser Career Academy High School, Chicago City School District 299.
  • Chicago – Walter Payton College Preparatory High School, Chicago City School District 299.
  • Clarendon Hills-Prospect Elementary School, Hindsdale Community Integrated School District 181.
  • El Dorado – El Dorado Middle School, El Dorado Community Unit School District 4.
  • Highland Park-North Shore School District 112, Braeside Elementary School.
  • Hinsdale – Hinsdale Central High School, Hinsdale Township High School District 86.
  • Lake Forest – Lake Forest High School, Lake Forest Community High School District 115.
  • Lake Villa – Archdiocese of Chicago School District, Prince of Peace School.
  • Mandelin-Carmel Catholic High School, Carmel Catholic.
  • Northbrook – Maple School, Northbrook / Glenview School District 30.
  • Oakbrooke-Butler Middle School, Butler School District 53.
  • Okayville – 10 Okayville Grade Schools in West Washington County Community School District.
  • Palatine – Walter R. Sundling Middle School, Palatine Community Integrated School District 15.
  • Parkridge-Lincoln Middle School, Parkridge-Niles School District # 64.
  • Tailor Building – Tailor Building Junior High School, Tailor Building Community Unit School District 3.
  • Westmont-Westmont High School, Community Unit School District 201.

Secretary Cardona’s next destination is a tour of the ACCESS Hawthorn Family Health Center. Also stop there, Vivek Murthy, a general American surgeon.

On Tuesday afternoon, Secretary Cardona will visit Chicago State University for a roundtable meeting with Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
