Danville, Illinois (WAND)-A Danville man who shot his house in 2019 could face life imprisonment after a federal jury pleaded guilty to him.
Alvin Beasley, 36, was convicted on September 22, according to a Monday press release from the prosecutor. Authorities said the trial provided evidence that Beasiley had possession of firearms on May 23, 2019.
Danville police answered the phone call fired at Macent’s 1000 blocks that day. They found the dwelling shot several times, and witnesses saw a unique hooded car fleeing the scene.
The police officer who responded stopped the car after seeing the gun thrown out of the window. Beesley and passengers were found inside.
Prosecutors said Beasley was able to prove that he had a romantic relationship with the resident of the house he shot.
Beasley testified in his own defense at trial, admitting that he had shot and killed his dwelling. He claimed he was not guilty of the crime indicted and tried to convince the jury that he had used a different firearm than what the police had recovered to commit the crime.
According to prosecutors, Beasley faces 15 years of statutory penalties for living in prison due to a previous conviction. His conviction was on charges of possession of firearms by a serious offender.
“This trial shows that the U.S. Federal Attorney’s Office, which works closely with state and local partners, will continue to prosecute those who endanger our community by illegally possessing and using firearms. “Most,” said Douglas J., Deputy US Attorney General, “A small portion of the population is causing the problem of violence, and targeted prosecution is an important part of the solution.”
Investigations in this case were conducted by the Danville Police Station, Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office, Vermilion County Metropolitan Executive Group, and Illinois State Police.
