Two Simeon High School Students Killed in Shoots Every 4 Hours – CBS Chicago

Chicago (CBS) — Simeon Career Academy High School mourns the shootings of two students killed in separate attacks on Tuesday only four hours apart.

Jamari Williams, 15, was killed in a shooting just a few blocks away from school on Tuesday afternoon. Four hours later, 15-year-old Kentrel McNeill was killed in a shooting at Hyde Park, leaving a 14-year-old boy in jeopardy.

Immediately after being fired at around 2:40 pm on Tuesday, about 20-30 students from Simeon were at Chatham Market, 8301 S. Holland Rd. Go to, where they seem to come often after school. The market is a few blocks away from Simeon.

Outside the shopping center, someone in a black car pulled Jamari up to his chest and shot. I heard at least 13 shots in total. It was not clear what prompted the firing.

“It was about 13 to 15 shots,” said witness Johnny Williamson. “It was around the time the school broke up, so you know, you heard all the kids running and screaming.”

According to police and Cook County Medical Inspector’s office, Jamari was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition and later sentenced to death.

Jermont Terry of CBS2 confirmed that the boy was a sophomore in Simeon at 8147 S. Vincennes Ave.

About 4 hours After shooting Kentrell and a 14-year-old boy who killed Jamari were shot dead and injured outside Hyde Park’s 52nd Street and Lake Park Avenue’s McDonald’s.

According to the Cook County Medical Inspector’s office, Kentrell was taken to the hospital and sentenced to death Wednesday at 9:33 am.

The boy was in crisis at Kammer Children’s Hospital.

After learning of Jamari’s death and before Kentrell’s death, one Simeon classmate said he was disappointed to hear that another classmate had lost his life.

“We lose students every year, and it’s like when it stops. It doesn’t stop because everyone knows when I graduate. We’re over and over again. I’ll also hear about it-and it gets tired, “said Aie’Rianna Williams, who has nothing to do with the boy who was slaughtered. “Stop. Stop.”

She pointed out that it was just four weeks in the school year.

“We are children. Some of us haven’t reached 18 yet, so we have to lose a lot of people,” says Aie’Rianna.

A detective in Area 2 was investigating a shooting near Simeon and watching a surveillance video from a shopping center.

Area 1 detectives were investigating shootings at Hyde Park.
