Shriners Hospital hosts Halloween Carnival ahead of a spooky weekend

Chicago-Schleiners Hospital hosted a Halloween “Carnival” on the Northwest Side of the city to begin the Halloween weekend.

According to the organizers, the event was a success despite the rain, and the decorations and costumes held up well to hand out a lot of candies.

A family of over 100 patients and staff came to Shriners Hospital for the annual Halloween Carnival and Costume Event. The appearance of the event will be slightly different this year.

For two-year-old Jacob, this event was what he had been waiting for all day.

To fight the rain, the organizers provided raincoats, umbrellas and tents and celebrated the weekend with lots of creative outfits and indoor pumpkin contests. The Mario Bros. theme won the highest award.

“It’s great because they’re busy all the time and doing everything they can to avoid worrying about what they’re actually doing!”
