Flacco starting on Sunday vs. Dolphin Jets quarterback | WGN Radio 720

Florham Park, NJ (AP) Joe Flacco will face the Miami Dolphins in the New York Jets quarterback on Sunday.

Coach Robert Saleh made a startling announcement Wednesday when the team decided to go with a 36-year-old veteran over Mike White, who started the last three games in place of the injured Zach Wilson.

Wilson, second overall, sprained the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee against New England on October 24, but it is still not 100%.

Saleh said Jets believes Fraco’s experience gives the team the best chance to win Miami’s offensive defense. White acts as a backup for Fraco on Sunday.

On behalf of Wilson, White beat Cincinnati, making a great first NFL start with 405 yards and three touchdowns, and setting a player league record with the first start with 37 finishes. The performance landed a white jersey and game ball in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

He had a nerve injury in his throwing hand, so he lasted only a quarter in Indianapolis the following week. White lost to Buffalo 45-17 last Sunday and struggled with four passcuts.

White blew the wind later in the game and was replaced by Fraco on Jets’ final drive. Fracco made his 225th career, 47 yards and a touchdown pass 3 to 3.

Jets bought Fraco from Philadelphia on October 25 and sent a conditional sixth round pick to Eagles for veterans. He spent last season in New York as a backup for Sam Darnold and started four games. Flacco signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in the off-season, but didn’t play for the Eagles as a backup for Jalen Hurts.
