Marello’s “cheerful” career began when she took on a job at the Flatiron Lounge in New York with Julie Liner, a cocktail savant. Marello soon moved from a cocktail waitress to a bartender and learned that the spirits industry was her true mission.
After studying rope at the Flatiron Lounge, Marrero became a senior bartender at Freemans NYC. Experienced bartenders have incorporated innovative drinks into their collaborative cocktail menu that complement the restaurant’s rustic cuisine. As a result, she consulted and co-designed the Elettaria Bar Program in West Village, Manhattan. Here she worked closely with chef Aktar Nawab to create an award-winning cocktail menu.

Marello has more than 10 years of experience in creating bar programs and nurturing a new generation of cocktail bartenders while enhancing the bar in restaurants.
She co-created Speed rackAn international cocktail contest for female bartenders raising funds for breast cancer charities.
Marello won the James Beard Award as one of America’s leading female mixologists in 2009, and is the most innovative woman in food and drink in 2015 for Food & Wine / Fortune Magazine, a wine lover mixologist in 2016. Was selected as one of the top four in Tales of the Tales. Cocktail Spirit Award Best Mentor 2017.
In July 2019, Marello won the Tales of the Rays Cocktail Awards Best Mentor and First Charity Award. Speed rack..
