Springfield, Illinois (Wand) – – The Illinois Coalition for Domestic Violence released its annual Domestic Violence Murder Report on Sunday 2009.

The report states that 78 people died in Illinois during the period of the report due to domestic violence.

66 were adults and 12 were under the age of 18. These deaths were identified as part of 68 separate cases. That is, many perpetrators killed multiple victims at once.

“As this report shows, domestic violence can happen to anyone, anywhere, where some believe that they have the right to control and exercise power in their lives.” Said ICADV. “Men are common murderers and women are common victims, but many others are also dying because someone is willing to use violence.
