According to Bruce general manager Doug Armstrong, injured forward Braden Shen will avoid the long-term injured list and will sooner or later return to the lineup.

As for Oskar Sundqvist, he’s almost at the finish line on recovery / rehab from knee surgery last spring. Armstrong said Sandokvist’s timetable is approaching “daily” status and could join the lineup in a week or two.

Armstrong said the team would need to send a few players to the American Hockey League for the salary cap to work when the Sandokvist returns, but that’s it.

Regarding Shen, Armstrong said: Hope you don’t need (long-term disabled list).

“It’s not because our doctors and training staff told me. The truth is, he didn’t intend to play these two games, so instead of carting all over the country, he put him back and put it back. Let’s rest, see a doctor, and hopefully be prepared when he comes back. “

Shen was sent back to St. Louis in the two games remaining on the team’s just completed road trip, raising concerns that his injury could be long-term. Shen was initially injured in a home game with the Chicago Blackhawks on October 30, and then exacerbated the injury in San Jose on November 4.

Shen seemed to prefer hands / wrists, but Armstrong provided no details other than an upper body injury.

“He’s still days,” Armstrong said. “He was on the skating rink. I think he was on the ice today. He’s approaching, but still every day.”

Meanwhile, Bruce has decided to send the 19-year-old rookie Jake Neighbors back to junior hockey with Edmonton Oil Kings. Dakota Joshua was recalled by AHL’s Springfield Thunderbird and gained Neighbors status on the blues roster.

“I think he was able to survive this year, but with the prospect, he would expect more,” Armstrong said. “I don’t think it’s enough to survive.”

Neighbors will benefit from playing Heavy Minutes in Juniors and will also have the opportunity to represent Team Canada in the World Junior Championships.
