Decatur, Illinois (WAND)-United Express brand SkyWest Airlines will provide Decatur with mandatory aviation regulations within three years of being approved by the United States Department of Transportation.
According to the Decatur Park area, SkyWest provides Decatur with 12 direct flights each week from Decatur Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The flight will use a 50-seater Bombardier or Canadair CR-200 plane.
Leaders said the service would give Decatur passengers access to United Airlines’ extensive national and international network. Chicago’s O’Hare Airport is one of United’s largest connecting hubs.
This new contract, which runs from February 1, 2022 to January 31, 2025, is subject to SkyWest’s two-year term of EAS service. The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued an order to terminate the two-year contract, and Air Choice One and SkyWest have submitted proposals.
