Starbucks announces 2021 holiday cup design more than 50 days before Christmas

Without the Starbucks Celebration Cup, it wouldn’t be officially a holiday season. And this year, they are more fun than ever.

Starting Thursday, customers will be serving hot drinks in one of four new festive cups “wrapped like a holiday gift,” according to a press release. This year’s designs are inspired by traditional holiday motifs such as wrapping paper, gift box ribbons, holiday lights and candy canes.

Susie Leeser, Associate Creative Director at Starbucks, said: “Our goal was to really bring joy to all our customers and all our partners.”

This year’s new work is an ice sugar cookie almond milk latte. This is Starbucks’ first non-dairy milk holiday drink. This drink is a mixture of sugar cookie flavored syrup, espresso and almond milk, shaken and served on ice. This beverage addresses the growing popularity of cold beverages, which accounted for 75% of total beverage sales in the previous quarter.

Traditional drinks such as peppermint mocha, caramel brule latte and toasted white chocolate mocha are also back on the menu. Starbucks has also added reindeer cake pops to revive other sweet treaties such as snowman cookies and sugar plum danish pastries.

The annual celebration has become a coffee chain tradition and inspires excitement among loyal customers.

Starbucks launched its first seasonal cup in 1997. The company was controversial in 2015 by removing “seasonal symbols” such as reindeer and ornaments and adopting a simple two-tone red cup. Since then, it has added more festive prosperity to its cups, such as ornaments and mistletoe.

This year, the chain has achieved record sales and expects to add more than $ 3 billion to Starbucks gift cards. “We are ready for this vacation,” CEO Kevin Johnson said in a statement last week.
