What happened on Saturday in Minneapolis was the best performance ever, and Brown was an important reason for it. Veteran safety appears to be everywhere in the field, suppressing the powerful Minnesota rush attack, and Brown plays the game with the team’s best 9 tackles, 1 1/2 tackle loss, 1 bag, 1 forced fumble. It was difficult to find any mistakes in any of Irini’s defensive play calls. Illinois coach Brett Burma avoided the decisive four-down mistake in the first half by choosing a punt instead. The conservative Irini’s attack after leading 14-0 made some sense given the scoreboard cushion and the solid defensive efforts to protect it. However, even a small increase in aggressive aggression can cause the Gopher to leave quickly.
