Zalengo Italian Ice & Gelato

Aria Zarlengo is a 2-year-old shy but plays an important role. A lead taste tester in Zarlengo’s line of sugar-free frozen snacks for Italian ice and gelato, which is popular in the southern suburbs of Chicago.

In November 2020, before her first birthday, Aria was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after digestive problems urged her parents to take her to the hospital. She was immediately rushed to the emergency room and received an IV drip.

“I’m creating a product that didn’t exist before,” Todd said. “You can get it for a few dollars and donate it for a legitimate purpose while you do it.”

Todd and Jessica believe that Aria is changing the world by stimulating new product lines. They both hope that the money raised by these healthy treats will lead to new technologies and medicines in the fight against illness.

“I’ve become very passionate about eradicating type 1 diabetes,” Todd said. “It will happen. I’m not going to stop.”
