((((Hill) — On Tuesday, a federal judge in Georgia temporarily suspended the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine obligations to federal contractors nationwide.

“The court acknowledges the tragic sacrifices that the COVID-19 pandemic has made to the country and the world as a whole,” Baker wrote in a 28-page decision. “But even in times of crisis, this court must maintain the rule of law and ensure that all branches of the government act within the limits of the authorities recognized by the Constitution.”
Baker, whose order blocks delegation while the proceedings are being held in court, said the challenger is likely to win their claim that Biden has surpassed his authority in public health measures.
Federal contractors faced a January 18 deadline for full vaccination.
At the end of last month, a Kentucky-based federal judge ruled narrower than blocking the delegation of federal contractors in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. Tuesday’s ruling has virtually spread the freeze nationwide.
Federal courts have created major obstacles to the Biden administration’s pandemic response, especially when presided over by Republican-appointed judges.
Biden’s vaccine rules for private citizens, healthcare professionals, and federal contractors are all bound by court complaints from Republican officials.
