Has been updated:No. 16 Southern California aims to continue its best start since 2016-17, hosting Long Beach State University on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Trojan (9-0) continued its undefeated start on Tuesday, beating eastern Kentucky 80-68. Isaiah Mobley led with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 three points.
The Trojan shot 54.2 percent off the floor despite a 0-10 effort by Boogie Ellis, who participated in the game as the team’s top scorer before being held without points.
Ellis is currently ranked third behind Mobley (14.0) and Beth Goodwin (12.6) with 12.4 points per game on Trojan horses.
“When your top scorer goes scoreless and you score 80, that’s okay,” USC coach Andy Enfield said at his post-match press conference.
“Everyone on our team can step up,” added guard Drew Peterson. “We have so many weapons. Someone can play at any night.”
USC won by scoring 44 points in Paint. This includes Joshua Morgan scoring all 8 points in 4 dunks. Morgan faced his previous team on Sunday and moved from Long Beach to USC in 2020.
The 49ers in 2019-20 averaged 8.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 block shots per game.
Long Beach State University (3-6) arrives in Los Angeles between Bethesda University and La Sierra, a non-Division I program. The Forty-niners routed Bethesda on Wednesday 102-69, with Collinslater scoring 21 points and Jordan Roberts adding 20 points.
The 49ers scored 16.3 points per game, followed by the 49ers, Slater (12.6) and Joe Hampton (11.9).
The focus of the 2021 Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U: Basketball” from East Los Angeles University, Hampton scored double digits in four of the 49ers’ first five games. He led Long Beach State University to his final victory against Division I’s opponent, scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds in his November 24 defeat at Wright State University.
The Long Beach State University has sometimes effectively scored, including the 85 points it registered with the Wright State University, but sales have plagued the 49ers. They had 19 turnovers in San Diego on November 30th with a loss of 72-47.
“It feels like our sales are really in transition, so it feels like our turnover is always on the half-court,” Murray told Loyola Merry Mount on December 4th. After losing -74, he told Daily 49er. “Play with both feet.” “
USC defenses are less generated in terms of sales.
Instead, Trojans are better at forcing failed shots. Opponents make 27.8 percent of 3-point attempts and 39.5 percent of 2-point attempts.
