Flight cancellations and delays in O’Hare continue as travelers face the double pain of snowstorms and COVID-related crew shortages.

Chicago (WLS)-A busy day at O’Hare where people are facing the predicament of travel. Currently, New Year’s Day has been canceled at the airport and is totally delayed.

A traveler to Spain said, “It’s too long and I don’t have the space to spend time or eat anything. It’s a long time here.”

This applies to thousands of flights across the country, many of which will enter and leave Chicago.

Several airlines, such as United and American Airlines, have blamed flight problems due to the shortage of crew due to COVID-19 and bad weather nationwide.

Chicago enjoyed the weather on Saturday with a few inches of snow, forcing a delay of more than 15 minutes to 24 hours.

“As long as I don’t spend the night here for 30 minutes, I can handle it,” said Sylvia Robinson, who came from Houston.

In addition to delays and cancellations, the surge in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks has also worried some passengers, and many passengers are aware that these airports have returned to pre-pandemic levels.

“It’s difficult, I’m not used to it,” Robinson said. “I was traveling last year and there was no one here, so it was a little creepy, so I’d like to meet people, but there are a lot of people.”

According to Flight Awre, O’Hare has been the busiest airport in the country in the last two weeks.

Triple A believes that vacation travel surges will continue until at least January 3, and a shortage of crew members could affect flights beyond that for days or weeks.
