London (AP) — Sinéad O’Connor’s 17-year-old son, Shane, was found dead in Ireland on Friday after an Irish singer-songwriter notified authorities that he was missing.
Police said the case of the missing person was over after the body was found in the east coast town of Bray, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Dublin.
O’Connor told Twitter that her son was “a very light thing in my life, and today I decided to end his earthly struggle and now I am with God. He sleeps peacefully and everyone Don’t follow his example. My baby, I love you very much. Rest assured. “
Previously, a 55-year-old singer used social media to urge his son not to hurt himself. She said he was hospitalized after two suicide attempts.
Shane was one of O’Connor’s four children. His father was Irish musician Donal Lunny.
O’Connor became famous in 1990 for the arrest of Prince’s song “Nothing Compares 2U”. She came out of an Irish abusive family and was outspoken about her own fight against mental illness.
