Springfield, Illinois (Wand) -Illinois Parliamentarian Sandy Hamilton announced on Monday his intention to run for the 48th State Parliamentary District of Illinois.
The newly drawn district covers parts of the Macon, Sangamon and Christian counties, including the cities of Decatur, Springfield and Edinburg.
“For the past few years, families in central Illinois have expressed dissatisfaction with state leaders’ decisions and a long-standing government system that prioritizes insider trading over servicing members,” Hamilton said. I have. “As crime continues to rise and high taxes continue to drive people out of the state, we stand behind law enforcement agencies, advocating true financial relief for hard-working families, and all obligations inherited locally. We need a leader to push back one size that fits the community, “she continued.
Hamilton Sandy grew up in the suburbs of Chicago before enrolling in the University of Illinois.
After graduating, Sandy began a dual career in central Illinois as a real estate broker for ReMax Professionals and as a high school and college volleyball coach.
“My career in Illinois and subsequent experience coaching has given me the opportunity to help young athletes grow into leaders on and off the court,” Hamilton continued. “I am passionate about ensuring that children have ample opportunity to learn and compete with their peers so that they are ready to succeed in later life. . “
In 2021, Sandy was appointed by the Legislature to represent the 99th House of Commons constituency in Illinois.
Congressman Hamilton is currently a member of the Housing Finance Institutions, Insurance, State Government Administration Committee, and the Subcommittee on Expenditure and Transportation.
Hamilton and her husband, Bob, live in Springfield and raise three boys, Charlie, Jake, and Will.
