Rockford, Illinois (WTVO) —Rockford police will hold a press conference today at 4 pm CT to provide the latest information on police shootings early Thursday morning.
According to police, a four-year police veteran was shot while sitting in his police car, but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

Officials said the bullet passed through the passenger seat door of the vehicle and attacked police officers. The policeman reported that he felt pain on his side. Police officers were checked out at a local hospital as a precautionary measure, but otherwise unharmed.
