Fort Worth, Texas (AP) — SMU coach Sonny Dykes reiterated his respect for TCU, flagging midfield after a short battle following a 42-34 victory at the Southern Mustangs home. I apologize for the player’s attempt to stand up. A frog with horns.

The video shows Rashee Rice, an SMU receiver running midfield with a flag displaying the Dallas school “D” logo, after the match on Saturday and before being guided by the opposite player from the TCU logo. Shown.

After a while, Mustang’s defensive back Brandon Crosley tried to raise the flag before throwing it, but failed. The TCU player then pulled the flag off the pole, and the player got angry and threw the pole to the ground.

“I think our team tried to put up a flag in the middle of the field,” Dykes said. “If so, you shouldn’t. Tell them about it. No one in the world respects TCU or (coach) Gary Patterson … than me. I’m sorry.”

Rice made the headline for the week of the game, saying he thought the TCU was afraid to play SMU. Dallas / Fort Worth rivals didn’t play last year due to issues with the horned frog COVID-19. The school tried to reschedule the game but failed.

SMU’s victory at the 100th conference marked Mustang’s consecutive victories in the series for the first time since 1992-93.
