Many of the weekends after the main break are waterless Dixmoor residents.Harvey serves the village

Dixmoor, Illinois (WLS)-After most days on Saturday and at least half of Sunday lived there without water, the crew is working to restore water pressure in Dixmoor, a southern suburb.

A drop in pressure essentially shuts down service.

A Dixmoor spokesman said a break in the water mains was found on Sunday morning, and village officials went out to see it.

This issue may not be resolved until Sunday afternoon.

The village board recently declared a state of emergency due to an ongoing water problem.

Related: Residents of University Park, whose drinking water contains lead, have been forced to use bottled water for nearly two years.

“We are working as hard as we can, so we ask the residents a little patiently,” said Fitzgerald K. Roberts, Mayor of Dixmoor.

At the village office, water was distributed especially to the elderly and disabled.

The city of Harvey provides water for Dixmoor.
