Los Angeles (AP) — Battery-powered vehicles will be charged the most at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week after a year of hiatus due to the new coronavirus.

Subaru, which has seen strong sales growth in the United States over the past decade, is pleased to announce the first all-electric vehicle, a small SUV named Solterra.

Vietnamese car maker VinFast, which is scheduled to go on sale in the US next year, will showcase two all-electric SUVs.

The car show has lost its importance as car companies have decided to avoid costs and unveil their cars at their own events. Only 10 press conferences are scheduled for this year’s LA show for automakers exhibiting new cars, many of which are from electric vehicle start-ups. In 2019, the show said it made 25 global announcements from automakers.

However, the show is still a big attraction for metropolitan customers who want to see all the latest information in one place.

Subaru Solterra, which is about the same size as the Forester’s petrol SUV, can travel about 220 miles (350 km) on a single charge and is off the road with the brand’s trademark all-wheel drive to cope with bad weather.

According to the automaker, Soltera’s lithium-ion batteries can be charged with a home AC charger and can also be used for fast DC charging on the road. Its electric motor produces 215 horsepower.

Subaru says the five-seater Solterra will be available later next year. Prices have not been announced.

VinFast in Vietnam will showcase VFe35 medium and VFe36 large electric SUVs at the show.

The show’s promoter states that there are more test drive opportunities than past shows, such as indoor electric vehicle test trucks and outdoor test drives.

The show’s press days are Wednesday and Thursday and will be open to the public from November 19th to 28th.
