Deadline: How did you come up with the idea? Wiper??

Albert Miergo: Well, love has changed dramatically in the last few generations. I think the concept of family and relationships is very different from when I grew up. My parents were much older than me and were born when my father was 50 and my mother was 46. At that time, relationships were based on family, strong family growth, and commitment.

And today, values and expectations have changed dramatically. Now people are a little more worried about themselves, their careers, and their personal growth. So I was in the midst of wanting to explore how relationships and love work today, not what love is biologically or philosophically. It’s a little more socially what is love. Animation is my technique and the best I know how to do, so I wanted to do it. In a way it’s a very personal piece, as I wanted to explore what I was particularly interested in with my best tools.

Deadline: Is the social question “what is love” something you have been thinking about for a long time?

Mielgo: Yeah, you know, sometimes you fall in love and it succeeds, sometimes you fail. Sometimes relationships don’t work, sometimes they work, but what’s the secret? So, in a way, it was always in my head and always a kind of obsession. It’s interesting because I think love depends on the context. It is based on everything that surrounds you when you are in love. So it’s not about the person himself, but about everything around you. I think that asking yourself is asking yourself what love is and what life is, right? What is everything around you? What makes you fall in love now, not when you’re busy, at war, or on vacation? I think love is very contextual.

Deadline: Where did the various vignettes come from?

Mielgo: Everything is very personal. From time to time, I have a picture I took and may use it in the future as something I had to explain in some way for some reason or personal experience. So, in a sense, everything is a very personal imagination. But always from an outsider’s point of view. I didn’t want to go deep into the relationship, I wanted to be a more observer. I think the basis of analysis is usually trying to separate yourself from what you are trying to analyze. So I was just trying to see love from the outside. As such, all vignettes are a bit incomprehensible.

Deadline: So where is the title? Wiper come from?

Mielgo: There is a novel written by Virginia Woolf. wave, And it has something like a wave rhythm. It was so interesting and the rhythm of the movie was like a wipe, so I felt inspired by it. So you see any scene and it wipes. And what we’re doing is that we can’t always define love because we’re trying to give a word to something that’s very difficult to define because we’re using the same word for different relationships. That is. So, figuratively, what I was trying to do was basically show the drops falling on the windshield. They form a particular pattern, and wiping it cleans the entire window again, but it keeps raining and the pattern is completely different. They may look similar, but they are completely different. Therefore, the patterns are completely different as a relationship. So that’s what the movie means, it’s like the windshield basically wipes out the patterns that reflect each different relationship.
