Principals remain paid suspension as some archdiocese of Chicago schools use masks as an option

Evergreen Park, Illinois — Schools and teachers in most Archdiocese outskirts of Chicago now have the option to use masks.

From thursday Masks are optional in Lake County and most of Cook County in the suburbs (except Oak Park and Evanston).

Masks are still needed in Chicago, Oak Park, and Evanston, as local health departments have issued legitimate orders requesting masks. The Archdiocese said they were in compliance with those orders and would dismiss Mask’s mission if possible.

News will come later Martyr Queen Catholic School Principal Earlier this week, Doc Mathius announced that schools would no longer require masks. But he did that before the Archdiocese announced the decision to make the mask an option — unless local obligations were still in place.

The family of the Martyrs Queen of Evergreen Park is wondering if the Archdiocese decision means the resurrection of Mattius.

Mattius was suspended for a fee. As of Thursday, he was still free from his duties and his parents and students called for a rally to revive him.

The Archdiocese has not commented on the principal’s suspension, saying it is a personal matter.

Parents and students are planning another rally on Sunday.
